SCAM warning
Hello Folks
I am writing to the entire SAGA-OMII list to warn of what appears to be a
SCAM aimed at members of our group. Earlier today, I received an email from
someone purporting to be James G. Hermsen and asking for $150 to send a
gift to a sick friend. Here is the full encounter:

Glad! I've been trying to purchase a $150 Amazon E-Gift card by email, but
it says they are having issues charging my card. I contacted my bank and
they told me it would take a couple of days to get it sorted. I intend to
buy it for my Friend of mine who is diagnosed with stage 4 mesothelioma
cancer, It's her birthday today. Can you purchase it from your end for me,
I am just trying to put a smile on her face in this trying times. I'll send

I contacted my bank and they told me it would take a couple of days to get it sorted. I am a newcomer to this organization/list, and several times when going
through the process of becoming a member I was alerted that the URL was not
secure. I was a little hesitant to continue, but did. I have so far not
gotten any SCAM email.

I too received this email and sent word to James knowing that it had to be
a scam. I am in PA and thought surely he would get a friend near him to
help. Then I reread the email and the "English language" was a little
skewed.
